Nineteen Israelis were injured in a series of drone attacks by Hezbollah in the Western Galilee on Tuesday, according to reports from the Galilee Medical Center in Safed. The attacks also included a barrage of about 30 rockets targeting northern Israel, impacting areas such as the Golan Heights and Galilee.
While the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) managed to intercept some of the drones and rockets, several drones successfully breached defenses, hitting areas south of Nahariya and causing civilian injuries. One individual sustained serious injuries, while others were moderately or lightly wounded, as per the IDF. An initial probe revealed that an interceptor failed to hit a target, leading to shrapnel injuries on civilians.
Magen David Adom (MDA) reported that a man in his 40s was critically injured by shrapnel while driving, resulting in a crash into a safety barrier. A woman in her 30s suffered shrapnel wounds and is in light-to-moderate condition. MDA paramedics described arriving at the scene to find the man unconscious with a severe head injury, while the woman was fully conscious with injuries to her lower limbs. Both were transported to the hospital, with the man in critical condition and the woman in stable condition.
Earlier in the day, drone alerts were issued in Nahariya and Acco, as well as localities like Kibbutz Lohamei HaGetaot, Evron, and Regba. Hezbollah claimed responsibility for the drone attacks, which it stated were not in retaliation for the IDF’s recent killing of Hezbollah military commander Fuad Shukr in Beirut.
In response, the Israel Air Force (IAF) conducted airstrikes on Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon, specifically in the Nabatiya and Khiam areas.
