President-elect Donald Trump has confirmed to the New York Post that Republican Representative Elise Stefanik will serve as the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations. “I am honored to nominate Chairwoman Elise Stefanik to serve in my Cabinet as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. Elise is an incredibly strong, tough, and smart America First fighter,” Trump stated. Stefanik expressed gratitude for the nomination, saying, “I am truly honored to earn President Trump’s nomination to serve in his Cabinet as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations.”
Stefanik has been an outspoken critic of the Biden administration, particularly over issues concerning Israel. She previously criticized the administration’s approach to Palestinian sanctions, posting on X (Twitter): “Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are choosing to ignore the law and waiving mandatory terrorism sanctions on the Palestinian government… Thankfully, the Biden-Harris Administration’s rewarding of terrorists at the expense of our great ally Israel is coming to an end.”
Throughout her career, Stefanik has shown strong support for Israel. During a Knesset Caucus meeting, she remarked, “There is no excuse for an American president to block aid to Israel,” and emphasized her backing of every congressional measure to support Israel. She describes the fight against Hamas as a struggle of “good versus evil, civilization versus barbarism, and humanity versus depravity.”
