The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed on Tuesday that Ahmed Fawzi Nasser Muhammad Wadiyya, a senior Hamas commander who led the attack on Netiv Ha’asara on October 7, 2023, was killed in a recent airstrike in the Gaza Strip. Wadiyya, who commanded a Hamas Nukhba force company, was responsible for orchestrating the brutal invasion that resulted in the deaths of 22 residents of the moshav. CCTV surveillance footage captured Wadiyya drinking Coca-Cola from the Taasa family’s refrigerator moments after he murdered Gil Taasa in front of his two young sons.
The airstrike, which targeted a compound used by Hamas near Gaza City’s al-Ahli hospital, also resulted in the deaths of seven other terrorists. The IDF reported that these individuals were members of the same battalion involved in the attack on October 7, including one who had supplied explosives used to breach the Gaza security barrier. The military emphasized that precautions were taken to minimize civilian casualties during the operation.
