European Union Denounces Mahmoud Abbas for ‘Fueling Antisemitism’

In a rare move, the European Union is actually condemning and speaking out against Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas for making false and offensive statements about Jews and the Holocaust. He said quote “Hitler fought the Jews of Europe because they charged interest on loans, it had nothing to do with antisemitism.”  

Well that statement is false. It was a genocide on an entire people. The EU, in a statement, strongly denounced the comments, calling them “inflammatory” and “deeply offensive.” The EU stressed such historical distortions exacerbate tensions and play into the hands of those against a two-state solution. The statement also emphasized the EU’s commitment to combatting antisemitism and racism in all forms and condemned any attempt to condone, justify, or trivialize the Holocaust.
