Eliezer Feldstein, a communications advisor for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, is at the center of a growing security scandal.
Feldstein, arrested on November 2, faces charges for leaking top-secret documents, allegedly to sway Israeli public opinion on hostage protests. The leaks, initially shared with Israeli journalists but blocked by the IDF censor, were later published by Germany’s Bild newspaper. Authorities claim the leaks could harm IDF and Shin Bet operations in Gaza and derail ongoing hostage negotiations with Hamas.
The investigation revealed that classified materials, initially taken by a reserve IDF officer, were passed to Feldstein through digital and physical means. Despite failing Shin Bet vetting, Feldstein worked in the National Public Diplomacy Directorate, reportedly answering directly to Netanyahu.
While other suspects tied to the case are under house arrest, Feldstein remains in custody. The State Attorney’s Office intends to file formal charges this week, showing the case’s sensitivity and potential ramifications for Israel’s security efforts.
This development comes amid stalled negotiations to release hostages held in Gaza, with critics accusing Netanyahu of neglecting efforts to secure their freedom.
